Charlie Beck is a rockstar and addict wanting to end his own life. When getting off a train, he gets into Dale’s taxi, a high-spirited family man working as graveyard shift. He tries to make conversation with Charlie, getting no response at first, but then by talking about his own life and family, starts to get some conversation about of him. He begins
to ask Charlie about his life, career and his family and inadvertently makes Charlie truly think about his life and, not only what he means to other people, but what they mean to him as well. As he thinks back on his relationships and how he has treated those closest to him and how he has been seemingly wasting the opportunities that he has got through his career in music, he begins to reconsider his place in their lives and how
his actions have affected more than just himself. After arriving at the hotel in which he plans to use heroin one last time before killing himself, he sits down to write a suicide note, but reconsiders and paces his hotel room, debating whether he should do it or make another attempt at living his life.
